The Geneva International Motor Show will return in 2022
The Geneva International Motor Show (GIMS) is expected to return in 2022, with the event scheduled for February 19-27, with press days on February 17 and 18. In an official statement, the show’s organizers said it has started accepting registrations from exhibitors, although they have until mid-July of this year to secure a spot.
“With the dispatch of the tender documents, we officially begin the organization of GIMS 2022. My team and I are eager to present our concept to exhibitors and then to the public. We really hope that the health situation and the corresponding political regulations regarding Covid-19 will allow us to bring it to life, ”said Sandro Mesquita, CEO of GIMS.
The global health crisis has certainly had an impact on the GIMS, which canceled its 90th edition in 2020 following the Swiss government’s decision to ban all large-scale public events last February.
Meanwhile, the cancellation of the 2021 event was announced later in July 2020, with the organizers opting to sell the show to Palexpo SA. The recently announced 2022 event will effectively be the 91st edition of the show.
GIMS has traditionally been one of the major automotive events on the calendar, with major brands unveiling their latest models at the show. At this time, it’s unclear whether brands will be interested in registering as exhibitors, although major brands have said in the past that they may not be part of a cost-cutting effort.
